TS Project

2008. After wrapping up my work on Prototype I moved onto a new project helping to build a new team and new game. We went on to create an action adventure playable game demo in the spy genre. In less than a year while developing a new engine and building a new team we delivered an "open neighborhood" playable demo with solid looking cover based gunplay, vehicles and parkour style locomotion. Below are a few early work in progress screenshots of art I was leading and developing with the team.

In 2008 Activision and Vivendi merged. The above mentioned project was cancelled for several reasons. They said the game looked great but needed to turn into somethign else. They expressed their decision with the fact they already had the James Bond Franchise and stated several other decision points based around the IP and the games potential returns.

As Radical restructured we helped with the Scarface2 project for several weeks before that project was also cancelled. Here are a few wip art assets I made for Scarface2.

  1. Really great franchise and its a pity gamers anticipations had gone away as well as all the hard work of you developers. Many thanks anyhow for the story. Pinning my hopes the project may still come alive out of dead sometimes. At least i do hope Bourne will come to videogames soon again.

  4. Haha, I like the "Wicked" poster in the background of the third pic. That light pass/blockout looks really cool too.

Swoop, do projects like these get canceled often? I'd have to assume that that gets pretty frustrating at times, in my opinion at least.

  5. Thanks Insipidus, Team Firearm was solid. In my personal experience, I have 12 published titles and 3 cancelled games. Yes it is part of the industry and Yes It can be very frustrating. Especially if you like your game and you've dedicated a year of your life pushing to make it as awesome as possible.

what is it with studio mentality. they were hired to do a bourne game.
bourne is espionage. so what if they had james bond. you can have a market on the spy genre people! crazy what execs and marketing people will choose to do. james bond and jason bourne are both excellent properties. you don't throw one away for the other. the bourne franchise on it's own is huge. sales of books over the years is massive. gamers want things like this.

Too bad, this would have been a great IP and the graphics look great.
    multiplayer, even better
    :)

  8. Thanks for the positive comments 6R3ND3L and jouini! It's quite disappointing to work hard on a good game for a year and have a studio merger cancel the project. The positive feedback and comments helps to soothe the pain.
